Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention of Anderson County and the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS) are holding a community forum at Main Street Baptist Church - Rocky Top, TN. Scheduled for October 3, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, with doors opening at 5:30 pm; there is no charge and food will be provided. This forum is part of the faith-based initiative project for Tennessee. We are excited to announce the evenings speakers: Dr. Monty Burks - Director of Special Projects at TDMHSAS and Dr. Stephen Loyd - Assistant Commissioner at TDMHSAS. Dr. Burks will discuss faith-based recovery support and how churches and other faith-based organizations can incorporate support services in their congregations/community. Dr. Loyd is the keynote speaker for the evening and will be presenting on many items pertaining to substance abuse such as: neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), treatment, policy, prevention, overdose trends, synthetic opioids (ex. fentanyl), naloxone, and the brain-development/behaviors associated with addiction. We are honored to have these professionals presenting such relevant and timely information to our community.
