Fall Softball & Kickball League Registration Underway
Team registration for the City of Oak Ridge Recreation & Parks Department’s 2017 fall softball and kickball leagues is now open. Co-ed and men’s softball leagues and a co-ed kickball league will be offered during the season.
Teams must turn in completed registration paperwork and pay the applicable registration fee by July 17, 2017, for early registration pricing. Teams registering after the early deadline may do so until July 22, but they will be subject to an additional fee of $25. Teams must contain a minimum of nine players, and all players must sign the team’s roster in advance to be eligible to participate. Co-ed teams must bat an equal number of males and females during games. Games are scheduled to begin the week of August 7.
Softball league participants must be 18 years of age or older. The men’s softball league will play on Monday nights at Carl Yearwood Park. Co-ed softball leagues will play on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Carl Yearwood Park or Jefferson Middle School. Kickball will take place on Wednesday nights at Carl Yearwood Park.
The city’s kickball league is open to all players 14 years of age or older. Players must be no younger than 14, and no lower than 9th grade by August 9, 2017, to participate. Teams may consist of all adult players, a mix of youth and adult players, or entirely comprised of youth with an eligible captain/coach older than 21. Teams must consist of an even number of males and females.
Individuals wishing to play in either or both sports, but who don’t have a team on which they’re already playing, can register as free agents. Those individuals will be placed on a list of players made available for acquisition as needed.
Anyone needing to obtain registration paperwork or receive additional information about the City’s sport leagues can call the Recreation & Parks Department at (865) 425-3450. Details are also available online at orrecparks.org. Registration paperwork should be turned in to the front desk at the Oak Ridge Civic Center by the deadline listed above.
