Event Description:
Public Speaking for Those Who Think They Hate Public Speaking Overview/Rationale Communication skills are absolutely critical for employees of all organizations. Specifically, the ability to communicate ideas to others publicly in clear and engaging ways is both highly valuable and transferrable across many different types of jobs in a wide variety of industries. However, unless public speaking has been a fundamental part of one’s training and experience, the prospect of public presentations, even amongst familiar colleagues, can be daunting and highly anxiety-inducing for many. This seminar is crafted to appeal to those with little to no public speaking experience who may be exceptionally unnerved by the activity. The curricula offers an easy-to-follow procedure designed to prepare participants for researching, writing, and presenting speeches in a wide variety of formats using a simple 10-step process. Additionally, the most effective use of presentation media and visual aids for speeches is addressed. There is a significant focus on techniques for reducing anxiety and managing speaking occasions pleasurably. Overall, this course is designed to appeal to those who have never given speeches or those who have done so unsuccessfully due to anxiety, negative beliefs about their abilities or other debilitating barriers to effective public speaking.
