Name: 23rd Annual Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Child Advocacy Ministry

Event Description:
For five days, children's ministry leaders and seminary students meet to share their devotion to improving the lives of children throughout America and beyond. Workshops offer programs and information to the more than 400 participants. Fellowship time and meals on the spacious grounds of the former Alex Haley Farm offer an ideal settings for collaboration and support. The children participate in reading and fun activities while their parents and care givers fully indulge in the Institute.

Each evening concludes with the Great Preacher Series featuring Reverend Willie Francois III, Reverend Cynthia Jarvis, Dr. Traci Blackmon, and Dr. Luke Powery. The week ends powerfully on Friday with three concurrent organizing sessions, including one with Dr. Walter Fluker, author of The Ground Has Shifted, followed by a closing charge, celebration of our commitment, and a service of communion with Dr. Frederick Haynes preaching.

Bible/Theological Study led by Dr. Eileen W. Lindner and Dr. Yolanda Pierce. Children and Justice plenaries include Sister Simone Campbell, Brittany Packnett, Dr. Patrick Reyes, Dr. Mark Lewis Taylor, Dr. Wendy Purifoy, Dr. Terrell Strayhorn, and others. Choose from more than 20 interactive afternoon workshops to deepen advocacy and organizing skills and strategies to build the movement for children. More than a dozen late afternoon choices include “Movement-building through the Arts” (dance, music, visual arts, and spoken word) and more!!

Fees/Admission:
Each evening is free and open to the public. Daily fee is $100 per person, Week-long registration available for $400. Includes lunch, dinner, workshops, materials, and time with speakers and workshop leaders. Registration available at www.ChildrensDefense.org/Proctor
