Description
NORRIS, TN - An annual holiday tradition, Candlelight Christmas, returns to the Museum of Appalachia the weekend before Christmas: Friday, December 20 and Saturday, December 21. This festive celebration evokes the beauty and simplicity of an old-fashioned Christmas in Southern Appalachia. The centerpiece of the event is an evening tour of the Museum’s pioneer village. Traditional Christmas decorations will adorn the interiors of the Museum’s authentic log cabins—many of which will be festively lit for the occasion. Candlelight Christmas will also feature musicians performing throughout the grounds and a variety of family-friendly activities, including wagon rides, popcorn stringing, Christmas storytelling, holiday arts & crafts, and a visit from Santa Claus! Guests can also do some last-minute Christmas shopping at a holiday market filled with the works and wares of local artisans. Demonstrators will be on-site making corn husk & apple-head dolls, sassafras tea, traditional Christmas clothing, and more. The event will begin each evening at 4:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. Santa Claus will appear from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit museumofappalachia.org or contact us at museum@museumofappalachia.org or 865-494-7680.
